Event Description

Cyber attacks and disruptions impacting the operational and business systems of critical infrastructures and other essential services are a major concern and burgeoning threat to regional and organizational resilience and security.  No infrastructure sector has been spared, and some, such as the healthcare sector, have been particularly hard-hit.  This makes it imperative to understand the risks and determine how to best protect against, respond, and recover from cyber events that pose increasing risks to Bay Area infrastructures, businesses, and communities.

Workshop Goal

This workshop is designed to introduce participating organizations to cyber resilience concepts and to build capability and capacity across key performance areas related to cyber security, IT operations, and business continuity within critical services to improve organizational and regional resilience and security.

Anticipated Outcomes

The Workshop will allow participants to interact with peers and subject matter experts and discuss different process improvement approaches to cyber security. Participants should walk away with:

  • Practical and demonstrative examples of capability building over and above the mere improvement of IT security controls and countermeasures;
  • An awareness of cyber security threats and current trends in protecting and sustaining IT services related to core operational and business functions and mission objectives; and
  • A greater understanding of decision criteria for cyber incidents, vulnerabilities, and business continuity, and other useful information related to risk-based decision-making and security planning to improve the resilience of critical IT services.

Attendees will also receive a status report on current Bay Area activities focusing on cyber resilience and discuss the road ahead to build a cyber resilient Bay Area.

Who Should Attend

Operations and business managers within all critical infrastructure sectors, including government agencies, businesses, non-profits, and community institutions.

Workshop Sponsor and Partners

The workshop is sponsored by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s Office of Cyber Security & Communications, National Protection and Programs Directorate, in partnership with the Northern California Regional Intelligence Center (NCRIC) and the Bay Area Center for Regional Disaster Resilience.
