Emergencies can overwhelm a State within hours or days.  Pre-planning and preparedness are the tools that can be used to help mitigate the emergency.  The integration and coordination with private businesses into the emergency management field is paramount for a rapid response and recovery.  The introduction of the BOC/UOC into the California State Operations Center (SOC) has given emergency managers the unique ability to work directly with private business’s to support resource requests from the local governments during an emergency.

Purpose

The purpose of this exercise is to provide Cal EMA and the BOC/UOC an opportunity to discuss and identify current plans, policies, and procedures in their notification, activation, key decision making and communication processes during an emergency in California. The discussion will cover critical decision making, communications, and, resource coordination.
