The forum will be a practitioner centric learning environment designed to familiarize participants with a community action-planning best practice, utilized by a Region IX preparedness partner. At the end of the conference, participants will be equipped to lead their community in developing preparedness "Resilient Action Plans." The Resilient Action Plan is a proven process-driven tool utilized by communities to assess, prepare, and implement a plan that fosters community resilience in a post-disaster environment.
This workshop is in support of America's PrepareAthon!, a nationwide, community-based campaign for action to increase emergency preparedness and resilience. This will bring together a diverse group of community leaders and government officials to share in an identified best practice, discuss community resilience strategies, and provide networking opportunities for whole community leaders.
At these workshops, attendees will acquire tools and skills necessary to plan and implement community preparedness activities. By working together through events like the Whole Community Preparedness Workshop, we are able to collectively share our understanding of resilience to help build and sustain community preparedness engagement and outreach.
